Hargraves Public School is a small rural primary school in New South Wales. The school is 150 years old.
The school engaged the students, staff, parents and members of the community in establishing a shared direction and priorities for the school.
Through the development of a School System Map, the school clarified its purpose, vision, values, stakeholders and critical success factors.
Using quality improvement tools, the community developed a first draft of these during a one day workshop. Subsequently, each stakeholder group has contributed to refining the System Map, which now guides planning and decision-making across the school.
This video shows how the school went about clarifying its vision and direction, through the development of a School System Map.
